Canyon Creek Little League
Registration for the 2015 Canyon Creek Little League Postseason program will soon be opening. CCLL plans to fill teams in the following programs:
- District All-Stars
- Juniors (13/14-year olds) (Combined team with San Ramon and Dublin LL)
- Intermediates (13-year olds)
- 11/12 year olds
- 10/11 year olds
- 9/10 year olds
Note: CCLL teams are typically made up of the older age in each grouping. However, parents will have the option to allow their player to be eligible to play with the older grouping (e.g. an 11-year old can choose to make themselves eligible for the 11/12 district team)
- Tournament Teams
- 12 year old
- 11 year old
- 10 year old
- 9 year old (2, possibly 3 teams)
The majority of District All-Stars will be selected by a vote of the managers in the divisions in which they played. The final 2-4 roster slots per team will be selected by the respective All-Star managers.
The commitment level for the District teams will remain as it has been in the past. Per the rules of Little League Baseball, District All-Star teams are announced on or around June 15, with the exception of Intermediate All-Stars (13-year olds, 50/70) that can be announced on June 1. Those players selected will be expected to be available for daily practices or games through the end of July. Teams that continue to advance could possibly play into August. If eliminated from the district tournament, District All-Star teams will continue play in local tournaments throughout the Tri-Valley area.
District play is extremely competitive and those players selected will be among the most skilled in their age group. Parents must understand that playing time is not distributed equally. The minimum play rule in the District tournament may be as little as one at bat per game (and possibly no innings in the field). Parents who want to ensure more playing time for their player should consider a Tournament team.
A player selected to participate in District All-Stars will be expected to make baseball a top priority for as long as their team is playing. With SRVUSD schools set to open in mid-August, it is understood that will leave a small window of time for family vacations. But giving less than a 100-percent commitment to a CCLL District All-Star team is unfair to teammates, the manager and coaches.

In addition to the District teams, Canyon Creek hopes to field Tournament teams in each age bracket, as well. Players not selected to a CCLL District team, may be placed on a Tournament team and will have the opportunity to continue playing baseball into the Summer. Players may also opt to only be considered for the Tournament team if they don’t want the full commitment of the District team. However, depending on the number of postseason registrants, CCLL cannot guarantee all registrants will be placed on a team.
Practice schedules for the Tournament teams won’t be as rigorous as the District teams. Depending on the number of registrants, roster sizes for Tournament teams may be expanded to allow for more flexibility in scheduling. These teams will not participate at the district level, but they will play in local tournaments against other Little Leagues.
